The iconic Breitling Navitimer was created in 1952 with a circular slide rule designed to let pilots easily calculate flight calculations. It was officially recognized by the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA) in 1954 and and has since been the go-to of pilots and aircraft enthusiasts alike. The Navitimer gained universal attention when astronaut Scott Carpenter wore it in space in 1962, and it's appeal extended far beyond the aviation world with Miles Davis and Serge Gainsbourg donning the watch. It's not just the highly functional design that drew such attention, but the distinctive style of the piece.
Breitling's icon has seen many versions in 70 years, but this new Navitimer combines classic features with modern touches. A domed crystal and flattened slide rule give the illusion of sleeker design. Alternating metal elements create a lustrous, subtle look, plus new colours like blue, green and copper on the dial. The AOPA wings add a touch of nostalgia, positioned at 12 o'clock.
