How do I know that I’m getting the best quality diamonds?

Rather than blindly sourcing our diamonds in bulk, we personally hand select  each Robert Gatward diamond by assessing its beauty, character and cut  before they even make it into our engagement rings. It is a stringent process  that Robert Gatward owner Keith Gill takes pride in but it means that we only  select the most elite percentage of the diamonds available in the world for our  engagement rings. We select diamonds with the highest level of certification by  the GIA (Gemmological Institute of America) and the IGI (International  Gemmological Institute) so you can be assured that what you are investing in is  genuine and valuable.

What metals are your engagement rings available in?

We passionately believe that platinum is the perfect metal for an engagement  ring due to its purity, strength and natural colour, so the majority of our  engagement rings on our website and in-store are made in platinum. However,  we can create each ring especially for you in 18ct yellow gold, white gold or  rose gold with absolute pleasure.

Are your engagement rings hallmarked?

Where are your engagement rings made?

In addition to being hallmarked in the UK, each Robert Gatward engagement  ring is created entirely in our workshops here in the United Kingdom.

I’m not sure what ring size I need, does this matter?

Not at all, please do not worry. You’ll find the option to choose “Not Sure” under  the Ring Size dropdown on each engagement ring. This is the recommended  choice if you are not 100% sure on your partner’s finger size. This is because  you are entitled to a free ring sizing up to 60 days after your original purchase if  you select this option. Please note that Sale rings are excluded from our free  sizing offer. There will be an additional charge required for sizing a Sale ring.

Each unique engagement ring displayed on our website is in stock but usually  only instantly available in one finger size (typically an L, M or N). When  choosing “Not Sure” as the ring size, we are able to dispatch your order much  quicker as it will need no initial adjustment and we will be sending you a stock  size. If you choose a size that we do not have in stock and we have to size the  ring prior to dispatch, this is classed as your free sizing. We will inform you of  this before sizing the ring for you to decide whether you would like to take the  size we currently have available or have the ring sized. We always highly  recommend taking the ring in the stock size we have available, as sizing a ring  too many times can affect its integrity.

I know my partner’s finger size, how long does delivery take?

In this instance delivery will take up to 3 weeks, unless otherwise stated. This  covers the time taken to adjust the ring to the correct size before dispatch. As  stated above we typically carry just one size of each unique ring in stock and if  you have chosen a size we have in stock then you will be informed immediately  to let you know of a quicker delivery time (if the stock size is not already  indicated on the page). If you cannot see the correct size you need on the page  please contact us and we'll do our best to accommodate. Sizes outside of our  standard selection can take up to 4 weeks for delivery because a new ring may  need to be made for you.

Will you adjust the size the engagement ring after I have proposed?

Yes, no problem at all. When ordering an engagement ring, if you selected “Not  Sure” as the ring size you are entitled to one free ring sizing after your  purchase, up to 60 days from receipt. This service can either be arranged by  visiting one of our lovely stores (recommended so we can accurately size the  finger) or you may contact us via email or phone to schedule in a free ring sizing by post.

If you have selected a specific finger size at the point of purchase, your  engagement ring will be sized to that finger size before dispatch, or remade  entirely before leaving us to ensure it is perfect. This will count as your first free  ring sizing. If any prior adjustment needs to be made to the size of the ring after  you have received it will incur a small charge. As above, please contact us or  pop into store to start this process.

Ring sizing will usually take 7-10 working days (starting from the day we receive the ring back) but please note that sizes that are outside of our standard  selection may take longer. If the ring you have purchased cannot be sized to  your requested size successfully due to the limits of the ring, we will make a  brand new identical ring for you at no extra charge (exclusions apply, e.g. one-off and Sale items).

Payment, Delivery & Returns

How can I pay for an engagement ring online?

We accept all major credit & debit cards via our 100% secure checkout,  including Visa, Mastercard & American Express. There are no extra charges for  using any of these services Please note that we no longer accept Paypal as a  payment method. We also have 0% finance offering a 0% APR on eligible  purchases over £300. This is a great way to spread the cost at no extra cost. For more information about 0% finance please click here. Sale/discounted  engagement rings are available on interest bearing credit rate of 9.9% APR  (eligible with a loan amount of £500 after deposit has been paid). 

What is included with my engagement ring order?

When you purchase an engagement ring from us, no matter what price, it is  always handled with the utmost care and attention. Included in the parcel is  everything you'll need to create the perfect proposal, but if you were wondering  we have listed what's included below:

    • The engagement ring, including diamond certificate (if applicable)
    • A laminated real wood hinged premium Robert Gatward engagement ring box (includes white cardboard outer box for protection)
    • Pink tissue paper
    • A copy of your invoice

This is all packaged up in the interest of keeping everything safe and secure  during transit. Most importantly there will be no mention of our full business  name on the outside of the parcel to ensure no surprises are spoilt. Expect to  receive a Royal Mail Special Delivery parcel, which will need to be signed for  upon delivery.

How long does delivery take?

If you have requested a specific ring size please allow up to 3 weeks for  delivery, unless stated otherwise. However, by selecting “Not Sure” under the  finger size dropdown menu we will make sure the engagement ring is with you  the next day so you can propose right away (orders placed before 12pm Tues-Fri).Delivery timescales may be slightly delayed due to the current  circumstances regarding Covid-19.

Please note, special order requests with a ring size that is outside our standard  selection may take up to 4 weeks for delivery because a new ring may need to  be made for you.

Am I able to use Click & Collect when purchasing an engagement ring?

Absolutely. Simply select Click & Collect as the delivery method at the checkout, choose your local store and we will handle the rest. Your engagement ring order will be available for collection (depending on size selection) in up to 3 weeks,  unless stated otherwise at your selected Robert Gatward store and you will be  informed by email or phone as soon as it is ready for collection. If you would like to choose a specific collection date please contact us as soon as possible and  we’ll be happy to arrange this. Orders placed via finance are unavailable for  click and collect.

Can I return my online purchase if it is not suitable?

Yes, you certainly can. You may return the engagement ring without reason,  providing it has not been worn, within 14 days after you receive your purchased  ring for a full refund. This complies with the Consumer Contracts Regulations  law implemented in 2014 regarding distance selling. You will need to request a  Returns Form from our Website Returns Department beforehand to receive a  confirmation and your returned ring will be subject to assessment before a  refund can be made. More details about our Returns Policy can be found here. This returns policy is for online purchases only. Please note that we do not accept refunds in store, but our teams will be more than happy to arrange an  exchange or credit note.

We are unable to offer a refund or exchange on engagement rings that have  been specially requested in a size outside of our standard selection (J, K, L, M,  N, O). We apologise for any inconvenience. This does not affect your statutory  rights.
