Description
This chronograph, designed for pilots, is one of Breitling's most recognizable products, making it ideal for those on the go.
In 1952, a wrist-worn chronograph with a circular slide rule was developed by Willy Breitling, enabling pilots to perform essential flight calculations. This design was later announced as the official timepiece of the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA). The Navitimer, or "navigation timer", became the standard pilot's watch, worn by airline captains and enthusiasts alike. In 1962, astronaut Scott Carpenter even took the watch to space. Its iconic look also attracted non-pilots during the golden age of air travel.
In its 70 years since being first introduced, the Breitling Navitimer has been adorned by notable figures like Miles Davis and Serge Gainsbourg, cementing its appeal as both a stylish and functional timepiece. While the iconic design has undergone various iterations, this new version incorporates the classic features while introducing modern enhancements. A sleeker look is achieved with a flattened slide rule and domed crystal, complemented by a mix of polished and brushed metal components for a refined finish. Notably, the updated dial options now include shades of blue, green, and copper. And for those who hold a nostalgic connection to the watch, the AOPA wings have returned to their original position at 12 o’clock. This pilot's watch has long been beloved by both aviators and trendsetters for its timeless appeal.
Worn by astronauts in space and the biggest stars on earth, it is Breitling’s most iconic timepiece and one of the most recognizable watches of all time.
