Description
Breitling's iconic pilot's chronograph is the ideal journey accessory. In 1952, Willy Breitling designed a wrist-worn chronograph equipped with a round slide rule to enable pilots to complete flight computations easily. This so-called "navigation timer" or Navitimer was approved by the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA) two years later as the official timekeeping device.
The AOPA is still the largest pilots' club globally, boasting almost every US flyer among its members. During the golden days of civilian aviation, the Navitimer became the default watch of pilots and airplane aficionados. Astronaut Scott Carpenter even wore one in space in 1962. Moreover, persons of renown, such as Miles Davis and Serge Gainsbourg, favoured the Navitimer, proof of its functionality and sophisticated look.
Breitling's Navitimer has been an acclaimed icon for 70 years, unifying renowned features with modern elements. Its flat slide rule and arched crystal appear more refined, and the alternating glossy and matte finish imbues a delicate glimmer. Refreshed dials come in shades of blue, green, and copper, with the iconic AOPA wings' return to the 12 o'clock spot providing delight to admirers.
For seven decades, Breitling's pioneering pilot watch has captivated aviation enthusiasts and trendsetters alike. Worn in space by astronauts and acclaimed celebrities, this timepiece is Breitling's most renowned, remaining one of the world's most identifiable watches.
