Description
Breitling has a long-standing relationship with aviation, with Huit Aviation's first precision cockpit clocks appearing as early as the 1930s. The Ref. 765 AVI, released more than 20 years later, was the brand's very first pilot's watch. The modern Super AVI line pays tribute to the era of early flight, embodying the bold and adventurous spirit of the time with its enduring design.
The Breitling AVI B04 Chronograph P-51 Mustang honours a legendary aircraft. North American Aviation was shocked when the single-seat fighter, built in just 120 days, boasted a low-drag wing and engine-cooling system that was considered experimental in 1940. Fitted with a Merlin engine, the plane quickly rose to become the best all-purpose fighter of its time. This pilot's watch is built to last, featuring 46mm of durable case material, large Arabic numerals for legibility, an oversized crown for grip, and a knurled bezel. The top-stitched calfskin straps are reminiscent of classic flight gear, and a stainless-steel bracelet offers an alternate option.
Pilots and other globetrotters will benefit from the 24-hour bezel and red-tipped GMT hand, for easily monitoring a second time zone. The reliable Breitling Calibre B04 movement, certified by the COSC, offers an impressive 70-hour power reserve.
