Candlelit dinner for two? Boyfriend James pulled out all the stops for Hannah, who, after an especially stressful day at work was touched by the thoughtful scene. Quite literally swept off her feet, Hannah was ushered to the table where James had mapped out a delicious three-course supper. Her cares of the day melted away in an instant. A keen baker with an even keener sweet tooth, Hannah was delighted when James told her that the pudding would be extra special. The surprise didn’t miss a beat, it was her heart that skipped one when it was time for the dessert course…
“To have the dessert he told me to first close my eyes. When I opened my eyes he was down on one knee with a huge cake.” – Hannah via Facebook
Told to close her eyes, Hannah then opened them to the ultimate grand reveal: James was down on one knee, presenting a humungous cake with amazing trimmings. There in red icing was the word “Hannah?” with a sugar craft ring box, holding the actual showstopper – a very significant engagement ring. Of course, she said yes.
Then, now and forever…
The couple, in-keeping with the true high school romance had first met in college in October 2008. Engaged in October 2016, they plan to tie the knot in October 2018, a wedding which will occur exactly 10 years since the pair were brought together.
Bake Off, Ring On!
James achieved all the cake-making credentials, working his magic with a friend to create the most adorable cake imaginable. It featured little nods to Hannah, like the personalised tulips which are her favourite flower. It was no mean feat crafting a ring box entirely from icing to fit the ring!
A stone with significance…
The ring itself features a splendid sapphire, chosen as her birthstone and lucky gem stone. Everything picked out by James was chosen with the sole intention to make Hannah smile – and smile she did! The cake, of course, was shared with family and friends who joined the newly engaged couple for a celebration. As a keepsake, Hannah has since been able to display the ring box beneath a glass dome – the perfect memento from the perfect moment, not to mention an object which’ll tell a story for years and years to come!
We’d like to thank Hannah for sharing her and James’ engagement story with us and wish them both every future happiness.
